Vantage Oncology

Gotama Building Engineers was hired to upgrade some of Vantage Oncology Center’s treatment facilities located within the West Hills Medical Center in West Hills, California. The project was to modify and upgrade the building systems to accommodate the installation of 2 new Linear Accelerators, a CT scan room and their associated support areas.

Located on the first floor of a 5-story medical building, the new additional Linear Accelerator Rooms have two new 8-ton packaged rooftop heat pump units for space conditioning and two new 7-ton medical equipment chillers to cool the linear accelerators. The linear accelerators require that the space where the equipment is located maintain a continuous temperature control, so the (2) rooftop heat pump units and the (2) medical chillers have been designed to be independent from the existing building system. The linear accelerator also required an air compressor for controls.

For the renovation, new feeders, panels and transformers were added to feed new lighting and receptacles. To serve the new linear accelerators, two new feeders and panels were added to support the accelerator equipment, the mechanical support equipment and the associated lighting. New conduits were also added for the upgrades to the telephone system.
