City of Hope has commissioned Gotama Building Engineers to conduct a study of the new central plant to serve the Beckman Research Institute on its campus in Duarte, California. Having worked with City of Hope on other projects, this study is being conducted with an eye toward the expandability and flexibility of the systems on the research campus as well as ease of maintenance.

The deliverables of the study are to develop estimates of required capacity, estimate future building capacities, design a floor plan for the distribution of equipment and routing for utilities. In addition, the central plant’s prominent location is paramount in projecting schematic and cost layout as well as architectural integration with the current vernacular of the campus. While the current central plant would be reconfigured to OSHPD standards, this new central plant would be devoted to the non-OSHPD demands of the research facilities, new laboratories in design and administrative offices.

Final presentation of this study will go to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of City of Hope prior to the initiation of a fundraising campaign.
