The preservation and renovation of our built environment is a sensitive and subjective area in architectural design. In evaluating historic properties, the context and the community will have the most impact in choosing to preserve and/or renovate the buildings that inhabit a site. With respect for the talent and ingenuity of our forebears, historic architecture may be made viable and relevant for modern life and usage through the twin practices of stewardship of the physical properties of cultural and historic materials and advocacy for safe and improved elements that will extend the life and vitality of a historic structure.
