Yankee Hotel Honored by Los Angeles Downtown Breakfast Club
with Rose Award
 

Marina del Rey, CA – The SRO Housing Corporation was presented a Rose Award for living spaces in Downtown Eastside for the Yankee Hotel by the Los Angeles Downtown Breakfast Club at their 26th Annual Roses and Lemon Awards Breakfast on April 6th, 2006.

 

Anita Nelson, Executive Director and CEO of SRO Housing Corporation accepted the award on behalf of the Yankee Hotel.  The Yankee Hotel offers housing to low-income residents with spacious units and better creature comforts, including private bathrooms, telephone and cable hookups,laundry facilities,an outdoor courtyard for gathering, kitchenettes, a 1,000-square-foot meeting room and a computer lab. These amenities are part of a trend to offer better conditions to those transitioning off the streets. SRO Housing Corporation also offers counseling and caseworkers to assist residents.

 

The design team for this 80-unit project was led by Santa Monica-based Killefer Flammang Architects; the mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineering was designed by Gotama Building Engineers of Marina del Rey.
