The judges on the panel, consisting of Leo Bandini, Webcor Builders; Michael Bedner, Hirsch Bedner Associates; David Berkson, SWA Group; Peter Devereaux, AIA, Fields & Devereaux Architects Engineers; Wade Killefer, AIA, Killefer Flammang Architects; Brooke Lauter, Arden Realty, Inc.; Jim McConnell, LAUSD; and Nadine Watt, Watt Genton Associates, LLP, cited in their decision to award the design team of Gruen Associates and Hodgetts + Fung Design and Architecture the difficulties of the project from changing existing conditions under restrictive time and budget constraints.
